Google’s social network has been receiving a lot of pushes from the search giant over the past year but in recent news Google’s local search is doing away with Google Places. As of today almost 80 million Google Place pages have been changed to Google+ Local Pages. This is causing a bit of havoc in the marketing world, especially for business owners, however the change will improve local search in the long run.
Some changes that have been implemented are the substitution of Google+ Local Pages instead of Google Places pages, a new tab for local in Google+, Google + Local Pages are now integrated throughout Google, Zagat will now handle customer reviews and last but not least, the social aspect of circles for reviews and recommendations from friends and family. Local SEO Sites will release more information in a post next week about the Google Places change to new Google+ Local pages. We believe this is a great change to local search with more opportunities to increase web presences socially with a larger impact on search engine optimization.
